Until 1999, all CA training was carried out at Auditing firms [Training Inside Public Practise], beginning that year, the institute has accredited training offices in commerce and industry [Training Outside Public Practise]

Many chartered accountants work in commerce and industry and the purpose of the TOPP scheme is to allow students to qualify in the environment in which they wish to make their career

Students at TOPP Accredited Training Offices specialise in financial management. The emphasis in their practical training differs from that of TIPP students ….as also does their final post-graduate course and Part II Examination.

Students are expected to make their choice between TIPP and TOPP before joining a training office. Facilities for transfer exist but only in exceptional circumstances.
