ZIMBABWE CERTIFICATE IN THEORY OF ACCOUNTING
OBJECTIVE OF THE ZCTA PROGRAMME
The objective of the curriculum for the Zimbabwe Certificate in Theory of Accounting (Zimbabwe CTA) is to academically qualify students to write Part I of the qualifying examination the Initial Test of Competence (ITC) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe.
STEWARDSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION
The Zimbabwe CTA qualification is owned by the Institute with currently 2 service providers offering its tuition. These being; the Chartered Accountants Academy (CAA) and the University of South Africa (Unisa).
The Zimbabwe CTA is offered in Zimbabwe only. To all student wishing to eventually become Chartered Accountant Zimbabwe CA(Z). No transfer of studies may be effected.
Students are not required to be in possession of a training contract to enrol for ZCTA.
Registration and Entry Requirements for the Zimbabwe Certificate in Theory of Accounting (ZCTA)
All students wishing to eventually become Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe may now be able to embark on the Zimbabwe Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA) before they register for articles. Such students should be able to meet the entry requirements stipulated by CAA (www.caa.ac.zw) or UNISA (www.unisa.ac.zw) .Students may enrol for this course through either CAA or UNISA
- Through the CAA route students should be in possession of an undergraduate accounting degree to embark on the 1 year full time programme and should also pass the pre-test conducted on registration. There is also a part-time 2 year programme for; working students in possession of an accounting degree, students who will have failed the pre-test and those in possession of qualifications from other bodies such as ACCA, CIMA & CIS.
- To embark for the UNISA CTA programme students should apply early on the UNISA website. On registering with UNISA for the CTA programme students should be aware that the Taxation module is registered at ICAZ.
In cases where five years have lapsed since the student last passed ZCTA. The relevant students should redo and pass one of the above ZCTA programmes again.
Students should pass all modules in one sitting to obtain the ZCTA qualification.
Students will only be required to have a training contract of 20 months before they sit for the final board exam the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) previously known as Board 2.
