The agreement is open to ACMA or FCMA members who are in good standing.
The ACMA or FCMA member will be required to write and pass the final qualifying examinationAssessment of Professional Competence (APC)

Applications in respect of above must be submitted to ICAZ and must contain the following information:

  • Evidence of full CIMA membership in good standing with CIMA
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Portfolio of work experience
  • Evidence from employers and associates of work performed and responsibilities fulfilled
  • Self-evaluation of competences against the prescribed competencies for the ICAZ training programme;
  • Any other relevant evidence.

CIMA members who seek membership as ICAZ members should satisfy the following requirements:

  • they should be full CIMA members in good standing and
  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree that takes a minimum of 3 years to complete
  • Have gained registration with CIMA by completing the education requirement with a registered tuition provider, passed examinations and satisfied the practical experience requirements as prescribed by CIMA
  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree that takes a minimum of 3 years to complete
  • SAQA or NQA graduates as equivalent to a South African or Zimbabwean Bachelor’s degree which is registered on Level 7 of the local National Qualification Framework, taking a minimum of 3 years to complete and comprises at least 360 credits),
  • Have gained registration with CIMA by completing the education requirement with a registered tuition provider, passed examinations and satisfied the practical experience requirements as prescribed by CIMA

CIMA members who satisfy the above requirements must successfully complete the following:

  • Pass the ICAZ Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) examination
  • To prepare you for the APC exam, one will be required to enrol for the ICAZ accredited Professional Program offered online by APT
  • On successfully completing the APC examination, CIMA members can apply to obtain the ICAZ Membership and use the ICAZ designation.
  • This conversion option does not apply to individuals who have gained membership of CIMA through any other means like pathways with other accounting boards.
  • For the benefit of creating a pathway for ICAZ and CIMA members to qualify and use both the Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (CA(Z)) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designations

Articles / Work based experience.

  • CIMA members are no longer required to satisfy any additional experience requirement beyond what got them CIMA membership.
  • Therefore, after passing the APC examination, candidates may apply for ICAZ membership straight away.
  • Registration with ICAZ as a CA(Z) through the Membership Pathway Agreement does not confer audit rights to individuals. This means that for those who are not doing articles with audit firms, upon completion of the program, can register with PAAB as Public Accountants but not as Public Auditors.
  • On successfully completing the APC examination, CIMA members can apply to obtain the ICAZ Membership and use the ICAZ designation.
